Acen 08

Okay... over all ACen was fun, but a little disappointing. The overall atmosphere of the con was different than it has been in past years.Registration royally screwed the pooch, even worse than last year. IRT made me want to punch them. And programming in general wasn't all that awsome.

Dispite this, we still managed to have a good time. And the plus side of there not being as many cosplayers as usual... most of the people actually cosplaying were pretty good! The way the con was spaced out this year allowed for there to be more room for other programming. And no one in my group got themselves arrested!

Anywho!

Thursday: Got to the hotel pretty late, which I will admit was mostly myfault. ^^; After checking in and lugging everything up to the 8th floor (Woo top floor!), we decided to go for a dip in the pool. Arriving at said pool and discovering the whirpool we all thought "nice! Relaxation time!"... only to discover the water in so called 'Hot Tub' was luke warm at best. I'm still a bit confused as to how a hotel can have a cold hot tub >_>.

Friday: Woke up early... gah. Then discovered the breakfast buffet of win. After chowing down, heading back up to the room and proceeded to spend the next hour helping everyone else get ready -_-; . Then Celly straightened my hair and I finished getting ready. Celly and I cosplayed togther as Uruki and Takiko from Fushigi Yuugi: Genbu Kaiden. Her Uruki is amaizing!!!By happy happenstance, the first people I ran into, after picking up my Panelist Badge, were Sam and Kristen! Kristen litterally pounced (and started humping) me out of now where. It was hysterical! Then there was much squealing and huggling and "how have you been?!"s. Then there was much huggling of the Naname figurine on Kristen's part. I ended up joining them for the Gundam Wing photo shoot. Which was tres magnific! I was able to spend time with Kelly and Joel while I was there as well!  I hung around with Sam for a little while after the shoot, saw Adam, then joined up with peoples for lunch. After that I went to the SailorMoon photoshoot. There were a lot of good SM cosplays. I especially loved the PGSM Dark Mercury. And Tanya had a really really nice Kino Makoto cosplay. She looked every bit the part.

Later that day was the Fushigi Yuugi photo shoot, which was fun but small. Afterwords Ami-chan did a mini shoot for Celly and I. She got some beautiful shots! Then it was panel time. I was a little worried due to our time slot being up against the Power Rangers but we had an awsome turn out! Atleast 30 people, if not more by the end. *does chibi dance of joy* Sadly, one of my panelsist (Jack) was unable to make it to the panel due to being stuck in the regestration line of doom. The panel went really well though. Not only did we have a great turn out, but people were more than willing to participate and seemed to really enjoy themselves. I'm deffinately going to try to do it again next year. I've been talking with my fellow panelists, and we think we could probably due a two hour panel. Sam and Adam come to the panel, which really meant a lot to me.
Later it was time for the Masquerade Ball. Dani went as Princess Serenity, Teri went in a beautiful wine colored dress, Ami went as Hanna Montana (going to burn that wig so help me God...), Celly went as Uruki in Formal, Audry went in a very pretty deep red dress, and I went as Hinamori in Formal. Had a really good time at the ball. Danced with my friends, a couple of guys, and got people to do the Macarana and the Chicken dance to various songs. Teri and I went and wandered for a little while and helped a girl who wasn't feeling well get back to her room.

After the ball I was going to go out to eat with Celly and Dani, but I had a rather nasty head ache so it was bed time for me.

Saturday:  The group went down for breakfast together. We had an awsome time just sitting around chatting. We discussed some of the most random topics Even when everyone was done eating we just sat there and talked. After getting dressed and ready I met up with Frosty and we wandered around the con a bit. She as Jack Frost and myself as Hinamori Momo.  I paid my anual visit to the yaoi vendor then wondered artist alley looking for peoples. I found several I know from DA, but some how managed to completely miss Crizl ;_; .  We ran into a Santa Clause with a pair of candy cane swords. He and Frosty had a little show down. It was fun. Also ran into Bird Girl and hugged Cooking Mama.  Teri and I ran into a couple of really cute guys we'd met the night before and we stood around and talked for atleast a good 40 mins if not a whole hour.

Met up with Stepho and some of her friends. Met new peoples... it was fun! Sat and talked with them for a good hour before heading back to the room to relax. Had a little bit of drama, mostly involving red make up, and watched people get caught in the rain. Went to the restaurant in the Embassy for dinner. DAMN was it ever good. Dani joined us for dessert. Her sexy Vampyre costume is just that... pure sexy. Then Nick joined us for a bit, and played a really cute trick on Ami.

Went back to the room and had a little more drama involving the hotel wanting another form of payment. We tried to get a hold of the only people who hadn't paid.. but failing misserably in that endevour a bunch of us put in extra and took care of things. Then we changed and went to the rave. OH MY GOD! The rave was frigging awsome~! Not only did they have beyond kickin' djs, but they had made the room bigger by taking out the fake walls. It was hot and sweaty and pulsing  and grinding and unbelieveable. I haven't danced like that in a long time. We met up with Felix in the rave and formed our own little dancing group. Then went and hung out in by the Spooney Bards when we got tired. Then we went back to the room and I was informed that my "Magical disappearing people" had yet to return. I've yet to hear back from them. But that meant that 3 other people could use the couch bed, so it worked out well.

I discovered what it was like to have a sixteen year old shadow pretty much glued to your hip, and love the child to death but... NEVER AGAIN. She's a sweet girl, but having a kid who won't leave your side for even two seconds with you all day would drive even the biggest of us mother hens up a wall.

Sunday: Missed breakfast, but that was ok. We all needed the sleep. I was going to do a closet cosplay of Komatsu Nana, but sadly the shirt I was going to use was accidentally ruined... so I just wore street clothes. It was most comfortable. We finished packing, and checked out once the room was almost clear. Then I met up with Sam at the Car Show. We sat and talked for a while. It turns out Sam had a little present for me. A little strawberry shaped timer!!! It's soooooooo cute! I totally love it. We wandered around the dealers room and watched an interview with the Japanese band ACen had this year, Peelander Z. OMG! They are frigging awsome! I have never seen a band interact so much with their fans. They stood at their booth, signed autographs, took pictures with people, posed, and were out noute silly. I looked them up when I got home, and let's just say they have a new fan. Sam and I got our pic taken with them.

We then ran into Amanda Sr. and Amanda Jr. in Artist's Alley. I bought the most adorable Pikachu pillow (it was only $5, which was pretty much the last of what I had but it was sooooooo worth it!) and scowered AA again for peoples. Still managed to miss Crizl *cries* Seriously... how did I do that? And twice?! *sigh* Anywho! Exchanged IM info and chatted for a bit, then it was time for them to be on their way. There was much huggling.

I watched the Yoshi cosplayers dance in the Car Show area, they were so adorable! *has video footage* Then got some more pics and hung out with Ryan for a while. Then sadly it was time to go home. I managed to leave a couple things in Celly's car *kicks self*. Luckily she doesn't live too far away.

Well, that pretty much completes this con report. You can see ACen 08 piccies here -> http://s178.photobucket.com/albums/w267/ainokaku/ACen%2008/

Hi all!

  • Jan. 19th, 2008 at 4:12 AM

Wow... so much has happened in the last few weeks. Sorry I haven't updated for so long, I've been majorly busy. For now I'll start with my con report, and the next update will be about my B-day. Sadly I don't have con pics... as I had to use a film camera so I'm currently waiting for all 6 rolls to come back from the developers. I'll post them as soon as I have them back and can scan them in!

For starters, Ohayocon was a total blast! I had 2 new cosplays, Saya from Blood: The last Vampire (in civilian clothes) and a Naruto SailorSpoof... SailorIruka! I also brought back PGSM Usagi and Pikachu.

Okay... Friday morning was spent in my Saya cosplay and in registration. Luckily the line moved pretty quickly. And we were in line with friends so it was fun. The afternoon and evening was spent in my SailorIruka cosplay, while hanging out with the peoples from the Animosity crew. Mostly Kristen, Amanda, Amanda (Jr.), Joel, and Adam. All I can say is, I LOVE THOSE GUYS! They are seriously beyond awsome! And so much fun to spend time with. It's funny though... I have been declaired officially "Adorable" by every single one of them. And they kept telling me how "adorable" I was the entire time I was with them. I don't think I've ever blushed so much in my life. We parted ways after the Naruto Photoshoot and I ran into my beloved Kelly-chan... aka... HotaruTenshi. We hung out in her room for about an hour or 2. Just chatting and snacking on various candies.

After that I changed into Pajama Usagi for the pajama jam. After the Pajama Jam I was wondering around and I ran into a Ryuichi (gravitation) in Pajamas and a Ryuichi is the pink bunny suite from Gravitation Ex! It was too awsome! A little while later we snagged a Shuichi (Mindy I love you!) and the three of us sat around and talked Gravi, yaoi, fanfiction, writing fanfiction, cons, and life in general. Then I ran up to my room and threw on a my halter top and jeans, touched up my make up... and Shu-chan and I hit the dance! We had so much fun! At the dance we ran into the animosity crew, ManMoon (huggles da TsukiiNiichan), and ChibiUsa-chan (waves!). After the dance I went back to the room and crashed.

On Saturday I over slept a bit, but luckily I had already ironed everything the night before, so it wasn't that big of a deal. I did end up having to call on Dani for help putting my hair up though... b/c it turns out the roomie who said they would and could do it, and I quote, actually wasn't as good as they said they were. So I owe Dani big time. She really helped me out of a tight pinch.

Luckily I made it to the SailorMoon photoshoot on time. I was kind of dissapointed that I was the only PGSM cosplayer. But I wasn't the only untransformed cosplayer. This was my first SailorMoon photoshoot, and it was a ton of fun! One of the other untransformed was an Usagi from Sera Miyu, and we really hit it off! We had a great time posing for pics together and chatting up a storm. She was soooo sweet! I also received a ton of compliments on my locket. People asking if I made it, how I made it, many mistook it for an official one at first. And I was able to talk some more with Lady Utena, who does the most amaizing SailorCosmos I have ever seen. And I was able to spend more time with TsukiiNii-chan and ChibiUsa-chan!

After the SailorMoon shoot I changed into one of my all time favorite cosplays... Pikachu! I LOVE being Pikachu because it's an excuse for me to be cutesy, hyper, and do a fun voice. I made sure to stop by the Gravi photoshoot b/c A) I <3 Gravi! & B) One of the Ryu-chan's from the night before was a major Pokemon fan. Let's just say Pikachu got dragged into the photoshoot for a few shots. ^^; Right after the photoshoot I ran into an Ash cosplayer. Whom I totally glomped, and who glomped me back. We posed for a few pics then went our separate ways. Not long after I ran into Shu-chan (Mindy!) who I totally kidnapped for the rest of the day. We wondered around the con, talked to peoples, took pictures, and had fun. We eventually ended up in the dealers room where we found the same Ash from before. Only since last we'd met he had bought himself a collar and leash... and was being led around by Team Rocket. After freeing him from Jesse, James, and Meowth (That's Right!)... Ash ended up wondering around the con with us. However, any onlooker would have seen Pikachu leading Ash by a leash. and that is the story of how Pikachu caught herself and Ash. I also had a conversation with a Mudkip completely in poke-language. It was great!

The three of us then went to the masquerade, and enjoyed it immensely! After the masquerade we parted ways and I went to go get ready for the rave. Which I didn't end up going to. You see, one of my friends came down with the flu, rather suddenly at that. And she begged me to stay with her. So I ended up spending Sat night taking care of her. Now... normally I wouldn't complain. However, this little chika decided to be the BIGGEST DRAMA QUEEN on the face of the entire fricking planet!!! By the ned of the night, I wanted to rip her head off. Good god! The girl was acting as if she could do absolutely nothing for herself.

After being woken up by Lil Miss Drama Queen at 5:45 am on Sunday b/c she "Needed help" (to get to the bathroom!) I couldn't get back to sleep. I finally gave up at about 7, threw on some street clothes and went to go get something to eat. I ended up being invited to sit with a group of random strangers by a guy that beyond reminded me of my darling Otouto (I love you Dan!). I started talking with one of the guys at the table and next thing I knew, he was majorly hitting on me! I nearly fell out of my chair. I mean, for starters... it's me. Guys have this nasty habbit of looking right through me. Secondly... I hadn't bothered to shower, had just thrown my hair back, and probably looked a holy mess. So... needless to say, I was pretty shocked. I still kind of am. But anywho! I started flirting back, and it was pretty damn fun.

Well... after breakfast, and getting Miss Sicky back to her own hotel, I finished packing, and changed into SailorIruka for the last time at the con. I met up with Dani and Candice, who were SailorNaruto and SailorSasuke) down in the food court. From there we went to the Naruto photoshoot. The sunday photoshoot was a loooooooot smaller than any of the others, but still a lot of fun. After the photoshoot I spent some time with Kelly, then with Shu-chan. Before I left... both Ryu-chans took my info, and Shu-chan put me in her phone as "KatieChu". It was sad saying good bye, but I can't wait for next year! And now there's ACen to look forward too!

Yoooooosh!!!
